A Common Place for Discussion

This blog is intended to allow us all to discuss plans for the rennovation of Mom and Dad's kitchen without Dad having to be on the phone around Mom. It is also intended to allow Cydney and Ken to participate. It is a private blog and cannot be accessed without an invitation from me. You have all been invited because as well as added as contributors so that you can post. You should all receive e-mails when a new post goes up as well as when comments are made. If it is urgent that we read what you posted please send a text to the whole group and mom that reads "BBQ Sauce" and thanks to Dave Steed for that one. I will take care of the story with Mom, we are going to say that it happened at the party at Nat and Dave's that he was randomly saying it. The idea is that she will think it is just a joke when we all know it is that and a signal.

Last, PLEASE DO NOT PUT LINKS FOR THIS ON YOUR BLOGS UNLESS YOU CAN DISGUISE IT SO THAT MOM WON'T NOTICE IT. I will have a link under the "How We Spend our Time" Heading on my blog that says Piano Gallery. If you click on that it will take you to this blog!

Major Progress

We worked our booties off the past couple of days, but it paid off. Dave Steed is the hero of the last two days. Thanks to his mother's steamer he was able to remove the glue from the walls and they looked incredibly better. It was a gross, hot, tiresome task and he is sore, exausted and glad to be done. Thanks Dave! Behind Dave, the rest of us sanded the wall, (once it dried of course) and then primed it with a drywall primer. This whole kitchen/dining area already looks 1000 times better and we aren't even done yet. See how much brighter the whole place seems and so much less dirtly looking than the post yesterday with the pictures from Saturday? DeWayne showed up tonight as promised but didn't have a single tool in hand and nothing to do the texture on the wall with. I think he barked out a huge list last night and thought that he would show up tonight and we wouldn't be done so he wouldn't have to do anything yet, but he was wrong! We totally busted our butts and barely had enough primer to get stuff ready for tonight, but as I was leaving tonight with Nat and Dave, DeWayne was pulling back up and headed inside to work! Yeah team Stevenson!

For our Reference

Just so we know how to put it all back!

The Work Begins

This is the guts of the cabinets.
There is tons more stuff in her kitchen than mine and it is smaller. Way to organize Mom!
Nat has this organized by cabinet and shelf on the blanket in the Living Room. Hopefully she remembers when it is time to load in again.
Door fronts off of cabinet base.
The nearly gutted kitchen (at least as gutted as it will get.)

The walls have tons of these spots that were hiding under the paper, not to mention holes and gouges. It is no wonder they put up wallpaper to avoid this mess.
